The First Interstate Foundation Employee Matching Program enables the Foundation to match eligible participants' personal contributions of time and money to qualified public charities.
The Gift Matching program matches the gifts given by First Interstate Bank employees dollar for dollar. Any employee - from a teller to a Vice President - who makes a donation to a nonprofit that benefits our communities can have their contribution matched by the Foundation.
For bank employees who prefer to donate time, our Volunteer Matching program works in much the same way. The Foundation matches employee volunteer efforts at a rate of $10 for every hour donated (with a 10 hour minimum).
Challenges faced by hungry people are multiple and complex. In 2008, the Foundation worked to identify these issues facing our region, with a goal of focusing Foundation Program dollars in the most effective way locally and statewide.
For many, the challenges are severe throughout the year. For others, winter months, school vacations and the end of the month are very difficult. These challenges tend to amplify the physical, social and emotional health of families.
Through the Neighbors Feeding Neighbors program, the Foundation will offer a double match of funds directed to the tables of our neighbors affected by food insecurity. Each employee and Director of the Board who donates to a non-profit that has an established food program during a specified time is eligible to receive a double match for their dollars and time.
Helping to keep our neighbors warm. First Interstate Bank, in keeping with its community service values, promotes an annual coat drive campaign.
First Interstate Bank branches promote and serve as drop off locations for new or clean reusable coats and other items that help to warm our neighbors during the winter months. These items are donated and distributed by agencies in the local communities.
Coordinated by the First Interstate Foundation, coats have been collected at First Interstate Banks throughout Montana, Wyoming and Western South Dakota the last eight years. During the annual two week drive, held in October, over 23,000 coats have been collected and distributed, free of charge, to neighbors in need.
