To best serve the needs of our clients, First Interstate has opted to extend the timeframe to retire Great Western Bank (GWB) routing numbers.
We initially aimed to retire GWB’s routing numbers by December 31, 2022 and communicated that target date in our Client Conversion Guide and subsequent communications. However, we will extend that timeframe to March 31, 2023 to ensure our clients have ample time to update their routing number(s) to First Interstate’s routing number (092901683).
This means GWB checks with the below routing numbers will be accepted in our system until March 31, 2023.

If you are a former GWB client and have not yet ordered new First Interstate checks or adjusted GWB routing numbers and electronic payments to your new First Interstate routing number (092901683), please do so immediately. Failure to update your routing number after March 31, 2023 may result in a disruption of service and returned checks.
To order new checks, simply login to Online Banking via firstinterstate.com to place your order; you can also order checks through your local branch/banker.
Any electronic payments currently still using any of the GWB routing numbers listed above will also need to be updated to First Interstate’s routing number (092901683).
